One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to know so many beautiful families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area! I especially love watching those families grow and helping them capture memories of important seasons in their lives. 

For example, I have been photographing this sweet baby since he was in his mommy’s tummy, at her maternity session! I had the joy of meeting him in person as a newborn and of getting to know him again at this milestone session at my studio in Dallas. I’ve loved seeing how he’s grown and taking keepsake photos of these special moments for his family to cherish forever. 

Milestone photos capture particular ages and achievements in a child’s life, especially in the early years. 

Why Book Milestone Sessions

Kids grow and change so quickly, especially in their first year of life. In just twelve short months, babies learn to smile, roll over, crawl, walk, talk, and so much more! As a mom of two kids, I know how miraculous these changes feel, but I also know how fast they all go by. On the day to day, it can sometimes be hard just to slow down and enjoy each stage. That’s why it can be so special to document some of your baby’s new skills and achievements through milestone sessions.

When is the perfect time to book a milestone session?

The simple answer is, any time! Some people like to book sessions around the holidays or (for older children) at the start or end of a school year. Others focus on their child’s age. In Korean culture, for example, 100 days  is one of the biggest milestones for babies! Here are a few of the most popular months for baby milestone sessions: 

3-4 months: Babies smile socially more consistently, and they can lay on their bellies and lift their heads

6-8 months: Babies learn to sit up unassisted

1 year old: Babies can stand or walk with assistance. I love incorporating a first birthday theme or even a cake smash!

What should babies wear for their milestone session?

Keep outfits simple so we can focus on your little one. Rompers, diaper covers, simple dresses for girls or shorts and a cute t-shirt for boys are good options. Bare feet are always so sweet! 

These sessions can take place outdoors or at my Dallas studio, depending on your preference and the weather.

Can parents be part of the session?

Of course! Although the focus will be on your baby, parents can always be in the photos. For babies with stranger anxiety, it can sometimes be helpful for parents to sit with and play with their child for the first few shots, as the baby becomes more comfortable.
