I am an on-location, natural light photographer based in Dallas, Texas. My style is based on beautiful light, pastels, and intimate connections. My goal is to beautifully capture the most precious moments in your life in a way that you will cherish for many years to come. I can't wait to get to know you!
My top resolution for 2022 was to open a natural light studio space to elevate my brand and provide a better client experience… little did I know that the perfect opportunity would come along and things would fall into place so quickly. I partnered with another amazing photographer and I am excited to announce that our studio space in Dallas is now open. The focus of the studio will be to capture the sweet and natural moments between you and your family. The newborn session below was shot at my new studio in Dallas. It is simple, sweet and beautiful. Stay tuned for more details about the studio in my next blog post!
2. Get all of my photos printed and displayed on walls or albums
If you follow me on Instagram, I am sure you saw my post about getting all of my photos printed and displayed in my home. As a photographer I know the importance of hiring a professional to capture memories. But how often do I look at those photos on a daily basis? I think more often than not, I update my profile photo and maybe my phone background. But it’s so special to take these professional photos and display them in my home! If I invested the money in the photos, it’s worth the investment to have them properly printed and displayed.
3. Be more grateful and express appreciation for others.
Do you ever think back over your day and say to yourself – “hmm, I wish I would have thanked so-and-so for helping me with XYZ thing?” I definitely do! Honestly, sometimes I feel like I’m just so bad at being thankful!
This year, I’m going to really try to be more grateful for the people in my life, as well as all the thoughtful little things they do. Also, I want to take it one step further and show my appreciation in some way, even if it’s just saying it out loud. I know being appreciated means so much to me, and I would love to do that for the people in my life 🙂
3. Say no to more things (and think carefully before committing to more things).
Here’s something I really, truly struggle with: saying no to things. Do you ever feel like that?
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes from November. I was originally planning to take the whole month off to rest and take care of my sweet new baby. . . but then I continued to get inquiries for photoshoots that I just had too hard of a time saying no to!
Why? There were so many reasons – I felt bad saying no to past clients who I’ve so enjoyed working with. Plus, growing my business is definitely a goal I have, so each inquiry was a chance to do that. Another thing was I thought I could just do one shoot per week. In the end, I totally overbooked myself and was super tired the whole month.
So, for 2022, I’m embracing the idea that it’s not bad to say no sometimes. Before committing to something, I want to try to ask myself “Can I actually take XYZ on?”
Life is just a series of little moments we collect. Often when I’m doing a shoot and capturing details like a newborn’s tiny feet or a sweet baby snuggling with a new momma, it makes me think of parenthood. . .things can be kind of messy and blurry in the moment, but if you stop and focus you’ll see details of joy and beauty.
This intention is definitely how I want to continue to see the world, as well as continue to see the world through my camera lens. To me, photos are a reminder of those brief, beautiful moments we’re trying not to forget. Photos freeze moments in time for us to always come back to.
As you know, I’m trying to be more grateful and appreciative this year. If you trusted me to help capture your memories in 2021, please know how much it meant to me! It’s such an honor to work with each and every family. I couldn’t do what I do if it weren’t for each of my wonderful clients.
If you’ve been following along on social media or this blog, thank you so much for that too! I love getting to share photos, reflections, and little moments from my family’s life with you.
