I recently shot this gorgeous in-home Dallas milestone session and I’m obsessed with how it turned out! These photos capture the way these parents and their little one have really become a family in just a few short months. Milestones are among my favorite sessions to photograph because they showcase how much your baby is growing and changing. Photographing this family once more was so special, having previously captured their maternity and newborn photos. Their home served as the perfect location for this milestone session. It’s Comfortable and Familiar for Baby

You know your baby best, which means you know if they warm-up to strangers quickly or if they need a little while to adjust. As an experienced baby photographer, I have lots of tools to help everyone feel comfortable. But why not set everyone up for success by choosing a location your baby already knows? Baby can play with her own toys while I take candids, or you can snuggle on your own couch for family portraits. 

It’s Stress-Free for Parents 

In-home milestones sessions are perfect because it also means parents don’t have to stress about packing extra outfits, toys, or food to bring to the session. If baby needs a wardrobe change, she has her whole closet to choose from! If she gets hungry, it’s easy to make her a bottle or feed her a snack in the comfort of your own kitchen. It also means you have a little extra time to get ready for the session because you don’t have to worry about driving anywhere (and potentially messing up your baby’s nap). 

It’s a Meaningful Location

Your home is filled with memories and special touches that can add sentiment to your photos. Incorporating meaningful items or spaces can make the photos even more cherished over time. This family’s home was a dream of neutral colors and bright natural light. Just look at those gorgeous white countertops! I especially love it when we can display beautifully framed photography in the background! Ultimately, in-home sessions are about capturing the authentic love you share in the space you spend the most time together.

It’s Easy and Convenient

Like I mentioned, an in-home session makes it easier to keep naptime sacred because you don’t have to worry about driving anywhere. You can also avoid any unseasonably hot or rainy weather. What’s more, you won’t feel any pressure from strangers looking on or another family waiting outside the studio while we finish our shoot. With an in-home session, I bring the private studio to the comfort of your own home!

It’s an Excuse to Declutter

As a mom of three, I know that keeping your home spotless is an almost impossible feat. Don’t worry about having every inch of your home clean. Just choose two or three well-lit rooms to declutter. If you’re someone who needs a little extra motivation to clean (and I get it! Cleaning with a baby is hard!), an in-home session might be the perfect excuse.
