As a Dallas family photographer, there are few things I love more than babies, birthdays, and a beautiful color palette. Recently, I had the joy of celebrating a sweet little girl’s first birthday in Highland Park, Dallas and capturing some incredible cake smash photos. I can’t stop gushing about how darling everything was!

This family decided to throw their baby a “Flower Power” cake smash party at Goar Park under the beautiful open air gazebo. The late April weather was cool and breezy by Dallas standards, and every detail was tailored to perfection! 

Grandma made the berry-topped smash cake with white cream frosting—simple and small to keep the focus on the birthday girl. For the backdrop, a soft pink banner read “Peace, Love, Baby” while a garnish of pastel and flower-shaped balloons by @DallasBalloonBar added texture to the scene. The photos of baby in her flower-fringed high chair and pink birthday hat as she enjoys her first bites of cake are absolutely precious!

The party was complete with professional face painting and flower-themed snacks, including sandwiches and donuts in the shape of flowers! Party designer Spring Design Studio did a smashing job organizing this Dallas first birthday cake smash (pun intended!).

The birthday girl wore a sweet floral romper, and Momma and Grandma had complimentary floral print dresses too, making this party the perfect opportunity for some keepsake family photos as well.
